Betsy Seidel has spent decades giving back to Grays Harbor. As a teacher in the Hoquiam School District for over 30 years, her students remember her as a ball of energy who was passionate about learning and always willing to give a helping hand.
In addition to her impact on our community through teaching, Seidel has been a huge advocate for the Grays Harbor Community Foundation nonprofit organizations community. For 23 years she held an annual volunteer fair to educate our community on ways to support our local nonprofits.
“Most nonprofit organizations are understaffed, so they depend on volunteers to make sure Grays Harbor has the necessary services to promote a quality of life we can be proud to call our own,” Seidel said.
So, when Seidel came to the Grays Harbor Community Foundation with an idea to start a fund for Grays Harbor nonprofits, they were excited about it.
The Nonprofit Volunteer Fund is designed to help local nonprofits with the recruitment, retention and recognition of their volunteers. Through this fund, nonprofits will be eligible to apply for grants from $50 to $500 for things like recruiting new volunteers (brochures, flyers, radio and newspaper ads, etc.) or to recognize their volunteers in ways that best suit their organization.
The Nonprofit Volunteer Fund will be open year-round and reviewed on a monthly basis. To access the application visit our website at www.gh-cf.org and for questions, contact Jessica Hoover at jessica@gh-cf.org.
