James Philips Paul, affectionately known as Jim or Jimmy, son of R. James Paul Jr. and Nancy (Tinling) Paul, passed away on May 20, 2024, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington.
Jim was a standout golfer from J.M. Weatherwax High School’s class of 1975. After school, Jim’s love for golf led him to Meadow Springs Country Club in Richland, Washington, where he served as an assistant pro, sharing his knowledge and love for the game with others. Later, he obtained his brokerage license, leading to a successful career at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.
Jim’s heart, however, always belonged to the green fairways, and he eventually returned to the golf business, working at Willapa Harbor Golf Course in Raymond, Washington. He took on multiple roles such as: caring for course grounds and managing the shop’s daily activities before retiring in 2020.
Jim is survived by his second mother, Judy Paul; brothers: Michael, Greg, Brian, and John; and sister, Kristen. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him, as a man who lived life to the fullest with a witty sense of humor and a soft heart.
Jim’s journey through life was like a well played round of golf- full of challenges, achievements, and the joy of the game. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever grace the fairways and greens he adored. No public services are scheduled. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Washington.
