How Does Prostate Pro Work?
Prostate Pro works by providing a blend of active ingredients linked to prostate health in various ways.
Prostate Pro contains at least two active ingredients, including lycopene and beta-sitosterol. Although these ingredients come from different plants and fruits, they work in similar ways to promote prostate health by targeting inflammation and defending the prostate against free radicals.
Your body is hit with free radicals – like toxins – every day. Typically, your body defends itself against these free radicals, cleansing them from your body.
Over time, however, your body can’t keep up its defenses. It sends inflammation to defend against free radicals, but this inflammation can’t fully remove these free radicals from your body. Some believe this chronic inflammation leads to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) or an enlarged prostate.
Symptoms of BPH
Prostate Pro appears to be marketed primarily to men with an enlarged prostate. It’s a condition known as benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH.
Some of the symptoms of BPH include:
- Frequent or urgent need to urinate
- Trouble starting or stopping a urine stream
- Inability to fully empty the bladder
- Dribbling at the end of urination
- Waking up at night to urinate
- ED, sexual dysfunction, low sex drive, and low testosterone
For most men, BPH is a natural part of aging: roughly 50% of men over 50 have BPH. By the time age 70 arrives, more than 80% of men are dealing with an enlarged prostate.
Fortunately, Prostate Pro aims to help. The supplement appears marketed to men of all ages who want help managing prostate size and promoting BPH symptom relief.

Prostate Pro Ingredients
Prostate Pro uses a multi-action, proprietary prostate blend to defend the body against prostate problems.
The manufacturer of Prostate Pro, however, reveals just two of those ingredients upfront. Prostate Pro contains lycopene and beta-sitosterol, but we don’t know other active ingredients within the formula.
Here are the active ingredients within Prostate Pro and how they work:
Lycopene: Lycopene is a carotenoid, or natural pigment, found in tomatoes and other plants and foods. It’s best known for giving tomatoes their natural red color. Researchers have long known about the existence of lycopene and its ability to add color to substances. However, new research has connected lycopene to antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. Some men take lycopene daily as a capsule or powder to promote prostate health and antioxidant effects, for example. Studies have linked it to heart health, brain health, blood flow, and prostate health. Instead of eating mountains of red and pink vegetables daily, you can take two capsules of Prostate Pro.
Beta-Sitosterol: Beta-sitosterol is one of the best-known plant-based ingredients for prostate health, and many men take beta-sitosterol daily for BPH. Beta-sitosterol is a specific type of plant sterol naturally present in fruits, vegetables, and nuts. Chemically, it’s similar to cholesterol. Unlike cholesterol, however, beta-sitosterol appears to specifically affect the prostate (although new research suggests it can also help manage cholesterol levels). According to the Kaiser Permanente Health Encyclopedia, beta-sitosterol is popular among men with BPH.
Other Ingredients in the Multi-Action, Proprietary Prostate Support Blend: The makers of Prostate Pro keep the ingredients close to their chest. The formula contains other ingredients in its “premium prostate support blend.” However, because these ingredients are proprietary, the makers of Prostate Pro choose not to reveal the ingredients upfront. Similar formulas may contain saw palmetto extract, vitamin C, and other ingredients linked to various effects.

How Inflammation is Linked to BPH
Both of Prostate Pro’s active ingredients work in a similar way: by neutralizing free radicals linked to inflammation.
Studies show that inflammation is essential in benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). High levels of inflammation could increase the risk of BPH.
In a 2011 study in Reviews in Urology, for example, researchers found men with higher levels of inflammation tended to have worse symptoms of BPH and an increased likelihood of developing BPH. Specifically, researchers found prostatic inflammation was closely linked to “prostatic growth and progression of symptoms.” Researchers believe growth factors and cytokines could cause this inflammation, leading to prostate problems.
The Mayo Clinic echoes these findings while also proposing other reasons for an enlarged prostate. According to the Mayo Clinic, reasons for BPH include an inflamed prostate, urinary tract infection (UTI), narrowing of the urethra, bladder or kidney stones, or scarring in the bladder neck, among other issues.
Both lycopene and beta-sitosterol are known for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. They appear to neutralize free radicals, including those that cause inflammation, which could inhibit one of the main causes of BPH.
Scientific Evidence for Prostate Pro
We know Prostate Pro contains at least some dose of two active ingredients linked to prostate health and BPH relief, including lycopene and beta-sitosterol. Although the manufacturer cites limited evidence and doesn’t provide dosing information, we’ll review the science behind Prostate Pro below.
First, lycopene’s effects on prostate health are so profound that some studies have linked the plant-based antioxidant to a reduced risk of prostate cancer. In a 2015 study, for example, researchers reviewed 26 studies involving 563,299 participants and found a correlation between lycopene intake and a reduced risk of prostate cancer development. Researchers found men with high circulating lycopene in their blood tended to have a lower risk of developing prostate cancer. A separate study reinforced that connection, finding lycopene had anticancer, anti-progressive, and apoptotic effects against prostate cancer cells.

Of course, the makers of Prostate Pro don’t market the formula specifically to men with prostate cancer; instead, it appears mostly marketed to men with benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH. According to a 2012 study in Maturitas, lycopene could prevent and treat symptoms of BPH based on a Cochrane review of dozens of trials.
Beta sitosterol is the second active ingredient in Prostate Pro. As Mount Sinai explains, beta sitosterol has been found to “significantly improve urinary flow and decrease the amount of urine left in the bladder,” although it has not been shown to shrink the prostate. Urinary issues are among the most common signs of BPH, and many men take BPH supplements specifically to improve urinary flow.
Like lycopene, beta-sitosterol has been studied for its effects on multiple types of prostate problems – including BPH and prostate cancer. In a 2024 study, for example, researchers found beta-sitosterol had a “pro-apoptotic effect” on prostate epithelial cells, which could help with prostate cancer. Researchers also found beta-sitosterol could act as a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor – which is how many popular prostate medications work.
Overall, Prostate Pro uses a blend of science-backed ingredients to promote prostate health. Although we don’t know the full list of ingredients and dosages within Prostate Pro, the two ingredients we know about are the most-studied ingredients for prostate health overall.
