Timothy Merrill, aged 62, passed away peacefully surrounded by love on July 22, 2024 after a long battle with Lou Gehrig’s Disease/ALS.
Tim was born on Sept. 15, 1961, in the state of Maine, where he spent his formative years. While still a teenager the family moved to Washington state, making a brief home in Lake Quinault and Clearwater before eventually calling Ocean Shores home for three decades.
In high school he was on the swimming and basketball teams and really enjoyed debate class. He graduated with honors from Hoquiam High School in 1980 and received a local scholarship from Dollars for Scholars.
He went on to attend Grays Harbor College where he completed his Vocational Certificate in Business Management. He finished his education with a degree in computer sciences at ITT Tech in Seattle, Washington, later owning several businesses all specializing in tourism.
Throughout his career, he was known for his hard work, dedication, and being a great boss.
Tim was a cherished husband. His first date with Julie was on July 22, 1985. They later married in 1987 and enjoyed exactly 39 years together.
In his free time, Tim enjoyed playing in Texas Hold’em Tournaments and trips to the Oregonoast. He was an active member of his community, volunteering for various non-profit organizations as a card dealer.
Tim was very close to his family. He enjoyed much time spent visiting and many trips traveling to Hawaii and Mexico with his parents, brother, and sister and her husband.
Tim is survived by his loving wife, Julie, of Hoquiam Washington; mother Eldora Merrill of Vancouver, Washington; brother Tony Merrill of Vancouver, Washington; and sister Dianna Dunlap and her husband Jim of Lincoln City, Oregon.
His father Robert Merrill predeceased him.
He was a beloved husband/brother/son who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be at the Hoquiam Elks Lodge, 624 K St., Hoquiam WA 98550, Sunday, Aug. 11 from 1 to 3 p.m. Dress casual. Coffee, water and hor d’oeuvres will be available.
