Ronald “Ron” Baehner, a resident of Spokane, Washington, passed away on Sept. 5, 2024, at the age of 84.

Ronald “Ron” Baehner, a resident of Spokane, Washington, passed away on Sept. 5, 2024, at the age of 84.

He was born in Santa Monica, California on Oct. 11, 1939.

Ron was a dedicated commercial fisherman, a career he embraced from his childhood and continued throughout his life, owning many boats and savoring the freedom of the ocean.

Ron was a graduate of Santa Monica College and spent most of his adult life in Charleston, Oregon and later Westport, Washington. He was known for his hardworking, kind, and generous nature. He could fix just about anything, a skill that extended into his hobbies which included ocean fishing, watching sprint car races, and engaging in hobby machinery work. Notably, he built a small engine from scratch, showcasing his mechanical prowess and passion for metalwork.

He leaves behind a loving family, including his wife Beverly, daughter Laura, stepson Zachary Stevens, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Special appreciation is given to Virgil Seymour II for the care he provided during his illness.

He was preceded in death by his mother Ilif Baehner (Rooney), father Arthur Baehner, and stepson Scott Stevens.

A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Oct. 12 in Spokane. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your local food pantry in Ron’s honor, continuing his legacy of generosity and community support.
