Norman ‘Norm’ Lee Huisingh

Norman “Norm” Lee Huisingh passed away on Aug. 14, 2024 surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer.

Norman “Norm” Lee Huisingh passed away on Aug. 14, 2024 surrounded by family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his sons Christopher Huisingh (Cynthia Huisingh) and Richard Huisingh (Diane Huisingh), grandchildren Jordyn and Cameron; and brothers Robert Huisingh, Vernon Honstain and Raymond Huisingh. He is preceded in death by his wife Claudia Rae Huisingh (2004) and brother Bernard (2024).

Norm was born on April 28, 1949 in Eugene, Oregon to parents Shirley and Edith Huisingh. Shortly after his birth they moved to Shelton, Washington where he attended Shelton High School and graduated in 1967.

Norm enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1968 and proudly served until 1971. He was a veteran of the Vietnam war and was honorably discharged. Shortly after his discharge he met Claudia Catterlin. They were married on Feb. 18, 1972.

Norm spent a few years working for the Simpson Timber Company at their Shelton mill and in 1975 he was employed at the U.S. Postal Service in Shelton. He returned to the Simpson company at the McCleary door plant in 1980 where he worked for 32 years before retiring in 2012.

In 2013 he became a snow bird and purchased a second home in Bullhead City, Arizona. In 2014 he met Paula Newland and the two spent their time between Washington and Arizona. They made many new friends and memories between the Washington and Arizona homes.

Norm was an avid billiard player, he loved boating, fishing and squirrel hunting in Idaho as well as driving his UTV in the mountains of Arizona. He loved his family very much and had a warm and loving heart. He will be missed greatly.

A celebration of life is planned for Saturday, Oct. 5, 2024 at the VFW Hall in McCleary, Washington at 11 a.m.
