Aberdeen, Montesano, Ocosta and Raymond-South Bend earned league victories as we review Tuesday’s Twin Harbors prep volleyball games.

PREP VOLLEYBALL
Montesano 3, Hoquiam 1
Montesano was just too much for a young Hoquiam team to handle as the Bulldogs won 3-1 on Tuesday at Montesano High School.
The Bulldogs (7-2 overall, 2-0 1A Evergreen) took advantage of the injury-riddled Grizzlies (4-3, 0-1), which had multiple starters dealing with injuries.
Monte won 25-20, 24-26, 25-17 and 25-10.
“I am proud of the way the girls played tonight, our passing is improving and it is really fun to watch these girls attack when they get a good pass,” said Monte head coach Cindy Wecker, whose team totalled a season-high 57 kills in the game. “The girls are doing a good job blocking and slowing down a lot of balls for our defense. Hoquiam is always a very competitive match for us and it feel good to come away with the win.”
Senior outside hitter Kaila Hatton led Monte with a stellar 24 kills and 40 digs.
Monte senior setter Karissa Otterstetter was also outstanding with 24 digs and 35 assists to go along with seven kills and two blocks.
Hoquiam, who got starting middle blocker Sydney Gordon back from injury but was hampered by several players being less than 100%, including Gordon and freshman outside hitter Aaliyah Kennedy.
“Monte did a really good job of exposing our weaknesses, which will help us moving forward,” Hoquiam head coach Heather Bozich said. “We’ve been playing with a different line up for the past week because of injuries, so I think we were a little out of sync. But I’m positive we’ll come back stronger because of this.”
Grizzlies libero Lexi LaBounty had 22 digs while setter Katlyn Brodhead had 36 assists for Hoquiam.
Kennedy worked through a nagging injury to record 13 kills and 12 digs while middle blocker Hayden Andrew added 12 kills in the game.
“I know our team didn’t play to our ability tonight but that’s just how it goes sometimes,” Bozich said. “But I know they will be ready to keep fighting because that’s what this team does.”
Next up, Hoquiam hosts Tenino while Monte plays at Rochester. Both games are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Tenino 3, Elma 1
Elma dropped a 1A Evergreen League game to Tenino 3-1 on Tuesday in Elma.
The Eagles (3-4, 1-1 1A Evergreen) lost the first set 25-16 before tying the match with a 25-20 Game 2 victory.
But after a 25-20 loss in Game 3, the Eagles never recovered and suffered a 25-10 loss in the fourth set to end the match.
Sophomore middle blocker Nani Kanios had nine kills and was credited by Eagles head coach Natalie Windle as having “a great night up at the net,” and being “very aggressive.”
Junior setter Haylee Maners had a double-double with 13 digs and 15 assists while senior libero Allyson Warren led the Eagles with 28 digs.
Elma takes on Tyee at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday in Elma.

Aberdeen 3, Centralia 1
After a slow start, Aberdeen got things going en route to a 3-1 victory over Centralia on Tuesday in Centralia.
The Bobcats (3-2, 1-0 2A Evergreen Conference) were sluggish out of the gate, dropping the first game 25-16 before finding their game in the middle of the second set.
From that point on, the game belonged to Aberdeen as the Cats won the next three sets 25-21, 25-23 and 25-21 against the Tigers (2-4, 0-2).
“Our hitters struggled keeping their hits in the court and out of the net until about the middle of the second set, when we finally figured out placement on our opponents side and ran some different hits,” Aberdeen head coach Desiree Glanz said. “Our energy got us to tonight’s victory we continued to support and push each other and really focused on getting the lead, setting the pace of the game and not giving up.”
Glanz credited libero Sophie Knutson (19-20 service, 2 aces, 12 digs) and defensive specialist Zoe Vessey (8 digs) for commanding the floor.
“(They) pulled the team together and worked so well together in the back row, guiding their teammates on where to set up for serve-receive and dominating the court,” she said.
Aberdeen plays at W.F. West at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Raymond-South Bend 3, Chief Leschi 0
Raymond-South Bend flipped a switch to erase an early lead and run off three straight games in a 3-0 league-opening win over Chief Leschi on Tuesday in Puyallup.
The Ravens (2-4, 1-0 2B Pacific) trailed 6-1 in the first game before turning things around to win 25-16, 25-6 and 25-9.
“We regrouped and got a spark off a couple of kills by (outside hitter) Kassie Koski and never looked back,” RSB head coach Julie Jewell said.
Koski had 10 aces to lead the Ravens in the Game 2 victory and added 10 kills to her total stat line.
Ava Baugher had seven kills while Summer Stigall had a 100% service game with two aces for RSB.
The Ravens host North Beach at 7 p.m. at South Bend High School.

Ocosta 3, Mary M. Knight 0
Ocosta extended its winning streak to six games with a 3-0 victory over Mary M. Knight on Tuesday at Mary M. Knight High School.
The Wildcats (7-1, 6-0 1B Coastal) won 25-14, 25-13 and 25-10 to move into first place in 1B Coastal League play.
“We were able to utilize our bench tonight and get our younger players some varsity experience,” Ocosta head coach Erin Snider said. “I am pleased with our defense tonight, from both our veteran players and underclassmen.”
Outside hitter Jolissa Schlegel was a perfect 15 for 15 in service with nine aces, nine digs and seven kills in the match.
Middle hitter Anna Davis had nine kills while Snider commended the back-row play of freshman Bella Pratt, who had a 100% service rate on the evening.
Ocosta takes on Lake Quinault at 7 p.m. on Thursday in Westport.
