Elma 7, Tenino 0
Elma got big games from the likes of Beta Valentine and Mia Monroe to trounce Tenino 7-0 on Tuesday at Davis Field in Elma.
The Eagles (2-4-1 overall, 2-0 1A Evergreen) got six goals from Valentine and four assists from Monroe in her first game back from missing two games due to an illness.
Valentine was fouled and converted a subsequent penalty kick to get Elma on the scoreboard in the 27th minute.
Monroe then fed a throw-in to Valentine, who spun and shot for a 2-0 lead in the 36th minute.
Just two minutes later, Valentine pounced on a rebound and scored to earn a natural hat trick in the first half.
With the score in his team’s favor, Elma head coach Evan Valentine believed his team wasn’t as sharp as it could be.
“I told them to calm down and control the ball,” he said of his halftime speech. “I felt we weren’t playing our best soccer.”
His team heeded his words as the Eagles scored two goals in the first two minutes of the second half.
With Monroe and midfielder Miley Seaberg returning to the lineup, Elma was able to connect on passes through the midfield with more consistency in the second half.

Monroe sent a cross through the penalty area that found senior midfielder Valerie Echeverria near the back post for a goal in the 41st minute.
A minute later, Echeverria penetrated into Beavers territory and centered the ball to Valentine for her fourth goal of the game and a 5-0 lead.
Monroe sent a looping cross that Valentine collected for a goal on a low, hard shot in the 51st minute.
The duo would connect on Elma’s final goal of the game, with a hard shot by Monroe deflecting toward Valentine, who scored on the rebound for the 7-0 win.
Elma plays Tyee in a non-league contest scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Thursday at Valley Ridge Park in SeaTac.

Centralia 3, Aberdeen 2
Two second-half goals were too much for Aberdeen to overcome in a 3-2 loss to Centralia on Tuesday at Stewart Field in Aberdeen.
The Bobcats (3-4-1, 0-2 2A Evergreen) got on the board first when senior midfielder Scotlyn Lecomte cashed in on a corner kick that was pinballed around the front of the Tigers’ net in the 20th minute.
Centralia scored to tie the game seven minutes later and the game would enter halftime tied at 1-1.
With both teams gaining multiple chances at the opposing net in the second half, Centralia would cash in on a free kick in the 47th minute and take a 3-1 lead with a goal in the 77th minute.
Aberdeen would add a stoppage-time goal when Miley Anderson was taken down in the box and Lecomte would convert the following penalty kick, but time would run out as the Cats fell 3-2.
“We played an overall solid game but made a couple mistakes in the back and didn’t finish enough of the chances we created,” said Aberdeen head coach Larry Fleming, who cited the play of Lecomte and Hana Lessard on defense.
Aberdeen’s JV team lost 4-0 on Tuesday, with Sawyer Shoemaker and Kristin Temaj drawing praise from Bobcats assistant coach Lindsey Scott.
Aberdeen hosts W.F. West at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
