Roy Edward Townsend Jr., a lifelong resident of Aberdeen, passed away from a heart attack on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2024, in Glendale, Arizona. He was 56.

He was born in Aberdeen on Feb. 1, 1968, to Roy and Shayne (Williams) Townsend and has lived here ever since.

Roy graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1986.

He married Tamara Rhodes in Reno, Nevada in 2019

He had worked for Star Electric for the last 18 years, retiring in January of 2024 so he and his amazing wife could travel around the country for a year.

Roy was a gun enthusiast, loved hunting, fishing (only with his brother-in-law), any outdoor activity, camping and weekend trips to wherever he and his wife landed in their motorhome. He very much loved the time he got to spend with his “Gremlins” — the grandkids.

He is survived by his wife Tamara, residing in the family home; sons Roy and Dillon Townsend, stepsons Dyllyn and Jordan Rhodes and Kyle Fergusson, daughter Kiana Townsend, sisters Debbie (Mike) Erickson, Tanya (Andy) Anderson and Jennifer Iannello; and grandchildren Hadley, Scarlett, Rilynn, Roy N. Jr, Kaidence, Hailyn, Roman, Ariel, Ryker, Arkaeden, Karsyn and Olivia.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Church of Christ in Central Park. All are welcome to come share their memories and spend time with the family. Light food will be served.
