Raymond-South Bend 3, Elma 0
In a non-league matchup featuring two Twin Harbors teams, Raymond-South Bend got the better of Elma with a straight-set victory on Monday at South Bend High School.
The Ravens (6-5 overall) started slow, surrendering a 12-4 lead to the Eagles (5-8) in Game 1 before battling back to within a point as Elma held game point at 24-23.
But RSB was able to get a side out and scored three straight points to take the set 26-24.
In Game 2, the Ravens led wire-to-wire in a 25-15 win and took a 15-0 lead in Game 3, thanks in large part to a 14-point service streak by junior Kassie Koski, en route to a 25-10 win, sweeping the Eagles in the process.
“I thought we played well tonight. Mondays are typically a bit of a challenge. It was good to see us come ready to play,” Ravens head coach Julie Jewell said. “We struggled for a little bit in Game 1, but we played well offensively. We continue to improve and tonight was a good win for us. We came from behind after giving up a lead and played to win. I’m excited to see us improving.”
RSB was led by junior middle blocker Ava Baugher, who had 16 kills and nine assists in the game, and Koski, who went 26 of 27 from the service line with three aces to go along with six kills.
Elma was led by senior libero Ally Warren, who had 21 digs and was a perfect 7 for 7 from the service line with an ace.
Haydenne Bogar had a team-high eight kills to go along with 12 digs for Elma.
“We started off fired up tonight but ended up not playing our best. Different areas of our game broke down at different times,” Elma head coach Natalie Windle said. “There was some good hustle and we still had improvement in certain areas of our game.”
RSB hosts Willapa Valley in a non-league game set for 7 p.m. on Thursday.
The Eagles host Hoquiam in a 1A Evergreen League contest at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Hoquiam 3, Taholah 0
Hoquiam had to battle to beat Taholah 3-0 on Monday at Hoquiam Square Garden in Hoquiam.
The Grizzlies (8-5) won the first two sets 25-15 and 25-19 before taking a lengthy and competitive third set 29-27 over the Chitwhins (10-3).
“We started off really strong and were able to go on runs of points, but Taholah is a good and scrappy team who passes the ball really well. They really challenged us throughout the match so I’m happy we came out with a win,” Hoquiam head coach Heather Bozich said. “I am really happy with how we communicated tonight and kept our energy up throughout. Taholah is a really tough team that serves and passes well. We had a hard time finding the floor at times, so I’m really proud of how we never game up on a ball.”
Setter Katlyn Brodhead had 28 assists, mostly to hitters RanaeJah Burtenshaw and Aaliyah Kennedy, who had a combined 28 kills in the match.
Hoquiam also performed well from the service line, with Avery Templer (11-11 service) and libero Lexi LaBounty (11-11 service, 5 aces) each serving at a 100% clip.

Rainier 3, Montesano 1
Montesano had its eight-game winning streak snapped with a 3-1 loss to Rainier on Monday at Rainier High School.
The Bulldogs (11-3) lost the first set 25-15 before rallying to win Game 2 25-17.
But 9th-ranked Monte struggled in a 25-9 third-set loss before eventually falling to the 2B No. 4 Mountaineers (12-2) 25-22 in Game 4 to end the match.
“We knew we were going to need to bring our A-game to compete with Rainier tonight and we did not do that unfortunately. We struggled on serve-receive,” said Monte head coach Cindy Wecker, noting her team falling behind 12-1 and 11-1 in Sets 1 and 3, respectively, due to the service-reception issues. “We just dug holes so deep we could not crawl out. It takes more than just great hitters to win games, everyone on the team needs to do their part. Rainier is a really good team, but so are we and I think as a whole we expected more out of our performance tonight. This was actually a great match up to have just before heading into district. We have lots to work on both mentally and physically if the girls want to achieve their goals. As coaches, we believe in these girls. They can do great things when they work together.”
Monte sits 2.5 games up on Hoquiam for the top spot in the 1A Evergreen League and can clinch a league title with a victory over Rochester at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday in Montesano.
Montesano 15 25 9 22 – 1
Rainier 25 17 25 25 – 3
Leading players: Montesano – Broten (2 digs), Warne (7 digs), Robinson (13-13 service, 17 digs, 5 kills), Otterstetter (13-16 service, ace, 10 digs, 3 kills, 31 assists, block), Gooding (9-11 service, 2 aces, 5 digs, 5 kills), Wisdom (11-11 service, ace, 5 digs, 13 kills, 2 blocks, assist), Hatton (11-11 service, 2 aces, 14 digs, 13 kills, assist), Prince (10-10 service, dig, 2 assists).
