Montesano secured an undefeated league record while Aberdeen, Hoquiam and Ocosta picked up wins in the final week of the prep volleyball regular season as we review Tuesday’s games on the Harbor.

PREP VOLLEYBALL
Montesano 3, Elma 0
Montesano secured an undefeated league season with a straight-set victory over Elma on Tuesday at Elma High School.
The Bulldogs (13-3 overall, 8-0 1A Evergreen) defeated the Eagles (5-9, 2-6) by scores of 25-8, 25-15 and 25-11.
Montesano missed just one serve in the game and were led by standout seniors Karissa Otterstetter (26 assists, 11 digs, 8 kills), Kylee Wisdom (10 kills), Kaila Hatton (9 kills, 9 digs) and Liv Robinson (11 digs, 5 kills).

“We played really good tonight and the girls were outstanding from the service line. … They did a good job of keeping the pressure on and not letting up,” Montesano head coach Cindy Wecker said. “I am proud of the girls for going undefeated in league and clinching the league title. We will enjoy being league champs tonight, but tomorrow we will be focused on districts and what we need to do to be successful. These girls definitely have what it takes and they want it bad.”
Elma was led by Alyssa Warren (12 digs), Haydenne Bogar (7 kills, 5 digs) and Haylee Maners (9 assists, 8 digs).
“There were great rallies tonight and some awesome digs,” Elma head coach Natalie Windle said. “We had hustle, dug deep and worked hard.”
Montesano will face the Trico League No. 4 seed in a 1A District 4 Tournament game at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at Hoquiam High School.
The Eagles will face the Trico League No. 5 seed in a district-tournament play-in game on Tuesday (time, location to be determined).

Aberdeen 3, Black Hills 1
Aberdeen’s best season in two decades continued with a 3-1 victory over Black Hills on Tuesday in Aberdeen.
The Bobcats (11-3, 8-1 2A Evergreen) beat the Wolves (4-10, 3-6) by scores of 25-21, 20-25, 25-15 and 28-26.
“Gotta give my team props tonight,” Aberdeen head coach Desiree Glanz said. “We are learning to fight and never give up.”
Aberdeen served at a 90% clip and had 45 digs as a team.
All-league candidate Mia Hallak had a game-high 35 assists while MVP candidates in senior middle blocker Lilly Camp and sophomore libero Sophie Knutson had 14 kills and 17 digs, respectively.
Knutson went 28 of 30 with four aces while Camp added four blocks for Aberdeen.
With the win, the Bobcats remain one game behind first-place Tumwater for the top spot in the 2A Evergreen Conference.
Aberdeen has a chance at a share of the league title with a win over the Thunderbirds at 7 p.m. Thursday in Aberdeen.

Hoquiam 3, Rochester 1
Hoquiam locked up the No. 2 playoff seed out of the 1A Evergreen League with a win over Rochester on Tuesday at Hoquiam Square Garden.
The Grizzlies (10-6, 5-3 1A Evergreen) defeated the Warriors (0-16, 0-8) by scores of 25-15, 23-25, 25-9 and 25-8 on Senior Night.
“We started out without a lot of energy and playing soft at the net. It’s always tough to get back into a competitive state of mind after an emotional Senior Night, but I was proud of how we turned it around,” Hoquiam head coach Heather Bozich said. “I really like how we finished our last two sets tonight. We played inspired and intentional volleyball and with the passion we need going into districts.”
Hoquiam was led by senior setter Katlyn Brodhead (44 assists), senior middle blocker Hayden Andrew (17-17 service, 4 aces, 16 kills) and outside hitters Aaliyah Kennedy (19 kills) and RenaeJah Burtenshaw (13 kills).
The Grizzlies honored seniors Brodhead, Andrew, Avery Templer, Jordan Billie and Megan Gilbert on Senior Night.
Hoquiam will face the Trico League No. 3 team in the 1A District 4 Tournament at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Castle Rock Middle School.

Ocosta 3, North Beach 1
Ocosta earned a non-league victory over North Beach 3-1 on Tuesday in Ocean Shores.
The Wildcats (14-2) defeated the Hyaks (4-9) by scores of 25-22, 14-25, 25-15 and 25-20.
Ocosta middle blocker Anna Davis (13 kills, 11 digs, 7 solo blocks) and outside hitter Jolissa Schlegel (16 kills, 9 digs, 2 solo blocks) led the Wildcats.
Ocosta setter Ava Tucker had a team-best 17 assists while libero Noel Cuzdey added 20 digs for the Wildcats.
“North Beach played an excellent defensive game tonight. We made some adjustments through out the match and were finally able to find the floor,” Ocosta head coach Erin Snider said. “My middles, Jolissa Schlegel and Anna Davis both played a stellar all around game tonight both offensively and defensively.”
Ocosta will face the Columbia Valley League No. 4 seed in a 1B District 4 Tournament game set for 6 p.m. on Monday at Ocosta High School.
North Beach will be the No. 3 seed out of the 2B Pacific League and will face the Central No. 2 seed in a district-tournament game set for 2:30 p.m. on Saturday in Forks (subject to change).
