Dr. Monty L. Meier, age 72, passed away on Friday, Aug. 23, 2024. He had retired and moved to Rogers, Arkansas in 2022 after living in Aberdeen, Washington for 35 years.
A true Texan at heart, Monty was born on Sept. 18, 1951 in South Texas, son of the late Robert Meier and Gwendolyn Ocker. He grew up in Victoria, Texas where he graduated from St. Joseph High School. He earned his Bachelor of Science from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas followed by his Master of Science from Texas A&I in Kingsville, Texas. He continued graduate education in Houston, where he minored in Health Psychology at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston and earned his Doctorate in Psychology from the University of Houston.
In 1987, he moved to Aberdeen, Washington with his wife and daughter, where he practiced as a clinical psychologist and was the owner of Behavioral Counseling Associates. He was licensed to practice in Texas, Washington and Arkansas. He was a caring mental health professional, going the extra mile for his patients and helping thousands over his career.
Monty spent many days deep sea fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. He was an athlete at heart and an avid University of Houston football fan. He was a Houston Astro baseball supporter and enjoyed college and professional football and basketball games.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sharon Meier, his loving daughter, Kirsten Meier, and sister Mary Martha Meier. Monty left a profound impact on all those who had the privilege of knowing him, both personally and professionally. He was loved and respected and will be missed by his patients, friends, family and the Grays Harbor medical community.
