Sharon Lynne (nee Markwell) Stein, 88, passed away on Oct. 29, 2024, in Gig Harbor, Washington. Born on December 5, 1935, Sharon lived a vibrant life marked by her sociable nature, stylish presence, and a deep commitment to her family.
Sharon was an alumnus of Weatherwax High School and furthered her education at Grays Harbor Community College. She raised her family in Hoquiam and Redmond. In the 1970s she became a travel agent, which allowed her to experience food and fun all over the world.
A true hostess at heart, Sharon loved to cook and threw many parties that brought friends and family together. She found joy in gardening, nurturing verdant spaces where her grandchildren could play and hunt Easter eggs. Sharon was also an avid UW and Seahawks fan, including the days of the “Fifth Killers” and the boat parties en route to Husky stadium. In her later years, she enjoyed scenic drives, taking in views of Mt. Rainier, Pacific Northwest forests, and Puget Sound.
She was a beloved figure in her family, deeply involved and always present. Sharon is survived by her daughters, Tamara Holmlund and Lisa Sharp; grandchildren Kira Nelson, Beck Le, Will Sharp, and Madison Sharp; and great-grandson, Eero Holmlund. She also leaves behind her sister, Sue Maupin, and brother, Stuart Markwell. Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Stein, and her first husband, Don Holmlund.
A private family gathering will celebrate Sharon’s life, honoring her memory in a setting reflective of her love for family gatherings.
