Aberdeen sent several swimmers to compete in the 1A/2A State Swim & Dive Championships on Thursday and Friday at the King County Aquatics Center in Federal Way.
Bobcats senior Mija Hood was the highest-placing swimmer for Aberdeen, placing 12th overall with a time of 31.64.
Aberdeen senior Zahrya Graham placed 16th in the 1-meter diving competition with a score of 145.10.
Two Bobcats relay teams competed at the meet.
The 200-yard freestyle relay team of junior Arianna Alavez, senior Emma Mullins, senior Harnoor Jandu and freshman Gabby Orona dropped more than five seconds off their state-seeding time to place 12th with a time of 1:57.95.
Aberdeen’s 400 relay team of senior Emma Mullins, senior Ava Benn, freshman Gabby Orona and senior Mija Hood dropped 9.5 seconds off their previous time to swim 4:28.20, placing 12th overall and just missing Saturday’s final as the first alternate.
As a team, Aberdeen placed 29th overall with 14 points.
Bainbridge Island won the state title with 316 points, followed by North Kitsap (200 points) and Nathan Hale (186.5).
“I am extremely proud of these girls and it has been a pleasure to have been on this trip with them,” Aberdeen head coach Anne Eisele said. “We have big time drops and personal best times all weekend. It was a great way to finish the season.”
