Greater Grays Harbor, Inc. awarded TwinStar Credit Union as its second quarter Member of the Quarter.
Greater Grays Harbor, Inc. thanks TwinStar for being a supporter of their organization in many ways, including hosting and attending events such as Business After Hours, Business Forum Lunches, Showcase Grays Harbor (as well as being a sponsor), Leaders Celebration as well as local business ribbon cuttings.
There’s always fantastic staff participation at these events in addition to staff members volunteering their time as both Greater Grays Harbor, Inc. Ambassadors and Board Members.
When talking about doing business in Grays Harbor, TwinStar employees couldn’t help but to express their gratitude to the people, stating Grays Harbor has a deep sense of community and desire to support local, and the spirit of the Grays Harbor residents resonates directly with the spirit of TwinStar. When asked what advice they’d give another business or organization looking to succeed on the Harbor, TwinStar stated they wholeheartedly believes in investing in your community, building trust, and ensuring those you are serving that you are a part of this community for longevity!
Being recognized with this honor means that TwinStar will be eligible to take home the 2024 Member of the Year award at next spring’s Leader’s Banquet & Business Recognition Awards.
TwinStar history
TwinStar Credit Union was founded in 1938 as a teacher’s credit union. Their original “branch” opened in 1950: four days a week at room 346 at Olympia High School. In the 1980s they expanded through merger to the Grays Harbor community.
TwinStar now serves their members from their 20 branches throughout Western Washington, and due to a recent merger with Northwest Credit Union, can serve members in Oregon with an additional 15 branches.
TwinStar offers products and service to over 250,000 members throughout both states. As a not-for-profit financial cooperative, those members are the credit union owners.
Greater Grays Harbor, Inc. is proud to have had TwinStar Credit Union as a member of Greater Grays Harbor, Inc. since 1996.
This local credit union believes in giving back to the community and does so by supporting many groups with either time or dollars. Some of these groups include: United Way of Grays Harbor, local schools – including Grays Harbor College, The Salvation Army, Food Ball, YMCA of Grays Harbor, Relay for Life, American Cancer Society, PAWS, Habitat for Humanity of Grays Harbor, Washington Business Week, Dispute Resolution Center, RISE Coalition of Grays Harbor, 7th Street Theatre, Ocean Shores Food Bank, Aberdeen Fire Department, Ocean Shores Fire Department, Aberdeen Police Department, Circulo de Mujeres and NeighborWorks of Grays Harbor. TwinStar also has employees who participate in local service clubs such as Rotary and RISE Coalition.
