Raymond-South Bend 67, Naselle 49
Raymond-South Bend dominated from start to finish en route to a 67-49 win over Naselle on Thursday at Naselle High School.
The Ravens (3-1) started the game on a 14-2 run leading to a commanding 21-point lead after one quarter of play.
But nine fouls in the second quarter led to five RSB players with two fouls each, allowing the Comets (3-1) to trim the Ravens’ lead to 39-26 by halftime.
“The foul gods started taking over our brains,” Ravens head coach Jason Koski said.
RSB responded by ballooning the lead to as much as 24 points in the second half and never allowing Naselle to get within 12 en route to the resounding victory, the third in a row for the Ravens.
“Credit to our kids’ resiliency during adversity,” said Coach Koski, adding his team still needs to work on some things. “We will need to play more disciplined on the defensive end if we want to reach our potential.”
Junior post Ava Baugher and sophomore guard Avalyn Stigall led RSB with 15 points apiece.
Baugher also had 12 rebounds – nine on the offensive glass – and four assists in the game.

BOYS PREP SWIMMING
Kelso 90, Aberdeen 81
Despite winning the majority of events, Aberdeen fell to Kelso 90-81 on Wednesday at the Grays Harbor YMCA in Hoquiam.
The Bobcats won seven of the meet’s 12 events, but Kelso’s depth proved to be the deciding factor in the meet.
The “best race” of the contest, according to Aberdeen head coach Rob Burns, was in the 50-yard freestyle, where the top three placers touched the wall within 0.05 of each other.
Kelso’s Justin Tran won the race with a time of 27.14 with Aberdeen’s Cole Nylander (27.15) and Denny Linker (27.19) placing second and third, respectively.
“First home meet of the season and everyone performed great,” Aberdeen head coach Rob Burns said. “The 50 free was wafer-thin and a great race for all three. Overall, this was a great early-season meet that gives the guys confidence to improve and compete.”
