Harold Lee Mullins

Harold Lee Mullins passed away at Peacehealth Southwest Medical Center with his two children by his side on Dec. 4, 2024 at the age of 90. A private burial was on Dec. 9, 2024 at the Ilwaco cemetery.

He was born in Wise County, Virginia to parents William and Mintie Mullins and at the age of 17 Harold moved to Raymond, Washington where he lived the remainder of his life.

On April 4, 1953 Harold married his wife of 50 years, Joan Summey, until her death in 2004.

Harold is survived by his daughter Renee Goodin (Mike) of South Bend, Washington; his son Ronald Mullins (Linda) of Elma, Washington; his son-in-law Michael Jackson at the family home, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Also, Harold is survived by his brother George Mullins of Garberville, Calfornia; four sisters: Ozie Ragan of Los Molinos, California; Mable Eacrett, of Little Rock, Washington; Dicie Rose of San Diego, California; and Patty Minks (George) of Little Rock, Washington.

Along with his parents and wife, Harold was preceded in death by his daughter Richelle Jackson and brothers Lester, Vernoy, Orbie, Harlis and Hillard Mullins.

Harold worked at Weyerhaeuser for 44 years while performing different jobs along the way and finally retiring as an

electrician in the mill. Also, Harold was the owner and operator of “The Willapa Harbor Septic Tank Pumping Service” for over 45 years.

Harold had his pilot’s license in his younger years, was a past Exalted Ruler of the Raymond Elks, he also started the hide program while he was in the Raymond Elks where he collected hides that the hunters deposited into collection cans and he would salt and deliver the hides to a tannery for the Veterans Administration, a member of the Pacific River Riders and a past member of the “Willapa Players” theater.

He especially enjoyed fishing and hunting with his brother Harlis and took many trips to Montana together. Harold loved to travel and vacation while visiting friends and family. He cruised to Alaska, Colombia, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, many Islands in the Caribbean, went thru the Panama Canal and visited the Hawaiian Islands on numerous occasions. At the age of 79 years old Harold did his first 10K walk/run marathon across the Astoria bridge known as the “Great Columbia Crossing.” He did this crossing on two more occasions in his early 80s. But, his great passion these past few years would have to be keeping honey bees and all that it involved along with the harvesting of honey.

There will be a Celebration of Life at the Grace Community Church in South Bend, Washington on March 22, 2025, at 1 p.m. where Harold attended faithfully.
