Margaret “Marge” Golia passed away on Dec. 23, 2024 in Aberdeen at the age of 89. She was born on March 23, 1935 in Staten Island, New York, (where she was also raised) to parents Ray Brown and Mary McDermott.
She attended Curtis High School and on May 2, 1953 she married Joseph “Joe” Golia in Biloxi, Mississippi. The couple were happily married for an amazing 72 years. Together, they raised three children and moved their family to Aberdeen in 1964.
Marge was the owner-operator of Marge’s What-Not Shop and Flower Hut, makers of fresh and artificial flowers and accessories. With her husband Joe, they opened and operated Joe’s Italian Deli for five years, which specialized in Italian cuisine, donuts, and catering.
Marge entered into the real estate profession in 1996, working for Martha Carr at Coldwell Banker in Aberdeen. Marge, Joe, daughter Judy, and son-in-law, Harley, opened Premier Realty in 2003. She was a phenomenal real estate professional and was the top producing agent for six different years, actively working in real estate sales until the middle of 2023.
Marge enjoyed traveling with their three children throughout the Pacific Northwest and Canada while Joe competed in PGA golf tournaments. She, too, was an accomplished golfer who enjoyed playing at the Grays Harbor Country Club in Central Park where Joe was the head Golf Pro. She also loved playing bingo and casino slot machines, cooking Italian food, and had a green thumb when it came to growing plants and flowers.
Marge is survived by her husband, Joseph Golia; sons Joseph Golia Jr. of Cosmopolis, John Golia of Bellingham; daughter Judy Greninger of Central Park; sister-in-law Theresa Golia of Staten Island, New York, along with four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her mother Mary McDermott and sister Dolores.
