Five Star donates more than 3,600 pounds of peanut butter to Coastal Harvest

All three of Aberdeen’s Five Star Dealerships participated in the Ford Focus on Child Hunger Peanut Butter Drive this year, collecting more than 3,600 pounds of peanut butter for Coastal Harvest to distribute to local food banks and summer kids feeding programs.

The annual campaign is conducted by Ford auto dealers across the Pacific Northwest to support community food banks and ensure that no child goes hungry. For every new and used car they sell during the month of May, the participating dealerships donate one case of peanut butter to local programs. Peanut butter is a rich source of protein, and this annual endeavor goes a long way toward meeting heavy summer demand for child-specific food.

In Aberdeen, Five Star Toyota Chevrolet Buick and Harbor Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram joined Five Star Ford Lincoln in the effort. They then donated their combined proceeds to Coastal Harvest for distribution.

“We are grateful for the partnership we have with Five Star Dealerships,” said Brent Hunter, executive director of Coastal Harvest. “The coronavirus pandemic has been rough on everyone. The staff and employees really came through holding this drive again. It will all go to great use helping kids and meal programs on the Harbor.”

Coastal Harvest is a nonprofit food bank distribution center serving seven Southwest Washington counties. It provides food to 60 food pantries, feeding programs, senior centers and backpack programs, as well as its own mobile food bank. To help support its mission, please call 360-532-6315.
