Last-minute holiday shoppers heading downtown in Aberdeen may notice increased police patrols this weekend.
The Downtown Aberdeen Association has paid for extra officers to be downtown on foot, bikes and in patrol cars this Friday and Saturday, said Bobbi McCracken, a volunteer with the association.
“We appreciate everything the Aberdeen Police Department does to help keep everyone safe and happy downtown, not just during the holidays, but year-round,” she said.
The extra patrols help support downtown shops and storeowners as well as to make their customers feel safe and comfortable, she said.
