Help needed for trail maintenance

Schafer State Park and Lake Sylvia

National Trails Days is one of the 12 free access days to Washington States Parks.

Celebrate this on Saturday, June 3 at 9 a.m. at Lake Sylvia State Park. The Friends of Schafer and Lake Sylvia State Parks (FOSLS) are teaming up with the City of Montesano and state parks to work on more than 30 miles of hiking, biking and running trails. We will meet at Lake Sylvia State Park next to the small kitchen building. Come and enjoy a day at the park. This will be a great chance to help the park and enjoy a wonderful day at Lake Sylvia. Bring shovels, rakes and loppers. FOSLS will provide some snacks, hot beverages and water. We will organize in groups to tackle various tasks according to your abilities.

Please remember these trails are all maintained by volunteers (mostly us bikers) year round. The majority of the trails are on city of Montesano forest property. We therefore are very thankful to the city of Montesano that has partnered with user groups and allowed access to these 5,000 acres. Since the mid-1980s more than 30 miles of trails have been built.

Please mark your calendars for 9 a.m. June 3 to help keep our trails maintained.
