Many heart-felt thanks to Westport’s City Council for honoring Verna MacDonald during their June 12 session, for her many years of service. Not only did she receive a certificate of appreciation for her efforts but the chair she has occupied through many council meetings, now bears a plaque with here name.

Then imagine her astonishment, following the ceremony, when the triangular, feathered pirate’s hat and purple cape were presented to her, officially acknowledging her as Grand Marshall for the Pirate Daze Parade.

Thank you Verna for giving so generously of your time, talents and resources for so long, and enriching the lives of so many, too numerous to name. We all agree that this word has been a far better place with you in it.

Please accept this bouquet of verbal roses for your unselfish devotion to helping others in so many ways. God bless you.
