Words to live by

Letter to the editor

Congratulations to the Class of 2017 and all students moving to the next step in their journey.

Grays Harbor Young Life would like to remind students from North Beach, Hoquiam, Montesano, Taholah, Oakville, Aberdeen, Quinault, Elma, Wishkah and Ocosta high schools to have a safe and sober summer. We would like to remind you of the importance of your life and the lives around you.

You have so much life to live, so many dreams to fulfill and whether you realize it or not you are not invincible. You are human just like the rest of us and your decisions will affect your life! If you find yourself in a situation where you have made the decision to drink, PLEASE don’t drive. PLEASE be wise and give your keys to a friend who will not give them back to you no matter how mad you get.

The other reminder that we would like to say is PLEASE do not text and drive. I know it seems harmless and it will only take a second to respond, but the consequences of that one second can change the trajectory of your life forever. I remember the times of feeling invincible and life’s consequences seemed to be shielded from me when I was a teenager but the truth is 11 teens die every day from texting and driving. Please don’t be a statistic. Stay safe, stay sober and have lots of fun this summer!
