I work as a Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Advocate for Crisis Support Network in Pacific County.
Agencies like ours run on shoestring budgets and I’ve made due with my cobbled together office furniture — that was until a client and her newborn baby nearly broke through my chair. I’d always felt the couple of hundred dollars for a chair was better spent on my clients than office furniture.
With the expenditure necessary, I went to several furniture stores and found them too expensive. I hadn’t been to Furniture World, but thought I’d give it a shot. Dan Roy showed me three floors of beautiful furniture, which felt just out of reach for a non-profit. I told him I loved the furniture, but they were just out of our budget. Dan looked at me and said, “Just pick one, I appreciate what you and your agency do, and it’s my way of giving back.” The level of generosity truly shocked me. I hadn’t asked for this, but there it was.
Dan, you made me cry. Most who give like this prefer to go unnoticed and Dan, I hope you can accept this public thank you. If you ever need anything from me, please count me in.
