The Aberdeen High Arts Club at Aberdeen High School hosted a Make & Take Art Workshop on Oct. 24. They invited all of the students currently enrolled in art classes, plus their families.
“The goal of the event was to make our club and art department more visible in the community by inviting our families to see what we do in art classes, and teach people of all ages new skills,” said art instructor Molly Houk, “because art transcends age, ability and cultural differences.”
Eighty-three people of all ages came to this session. “We had a good turnout and lots of fun,” said Houk.
There were five art-making stations run by AHA student leaders: watercolor still life, cupcake decorating, wire skeleton with enamel skull, halloween cards, and spooky coloring sheets.
AHA Club plans to offer similar workshops every trimester this school year.
