Sara Allmaras is the Rotary Club’s Aberdeen High School Student of the Month for December.
Sara has a grade-point average of 3.983 while being active in the AHS marching band (where she lettered in varsity), pep band and jazz band. She also is the senior class representative for the Governing Branch of the Bands. She plays multiple instruments, including tenor saxophone and flute.
For her senior project, she worked with younger musicians in tenor saxophone through the Mini Marchers program. “I think marching band is an amazing activity to be involved in, so I wanted them to realize the fun of it,” she says.
Sara does peer tutoring for the National Honor Society and serves as the AHS chapter treasurer, in addition to various other volunteer activities at school and her church.
After graduation, Sara plans to go to Saint Martin’s University to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Each year, the Aberdeen Rotary Club honors Aberdeen High School seniors through its Student of the Month recognition and scholarship program. One senior is recognized each month between October and May. In June, two of these eight students are then selected for either the $1,000 “Blue” or $2,000 “Gold” scholarship to the school of their choice.
