Belgian pianist Steven Vanhauwaert is set to perform at the historic Raymond Theater on Sunday.
The international virtuoso introduces each composition for the audience with thoughtful commentary before interpreting masterpieces by Chopin, Liszt, Schumann and Debussy.
Vanhauwaert’s numerous accolades include Grand Prize at the 2004 Los Angeles International Liszt Competition, the Maurice Lefranc Award and the Rotary Prize. He was selected to represent Steinway Pianos as a designated Steinway Artist, in the company of other talented musicians such as Cole Porter, Harry Connick Jr. and Diana Krall.
On Sunday he will be playing the Raymond Theatre’s prized 1916 Boardman & Gray grand piano, purchased in 2009 with grants and donations totaling $14,000. The performance will begin at 2 p.m.
