Youngsters in Elma teamed up and raised $24,000 for new playground equipment at Elma Elementary School.
“Right before COVID hit last year, our kids did a fun run and raised over $20,000,” said Elma PTA President Kina Delimont. “We promised them new playground equipment. Due to COVID it has taken us a lot of time to have things ready to go. We are ready to go now.”
Last Friday, the Elma PTA presented a check to the elementary school for $24,000. Three large playground pieces are ready to be ordered, said Delimont, and will be installed through a community build this summer.
“This is huge for our community and especially our kids,” said Delimont. “They need to see that their work paid off, our promise was kept and for the community to see what they did for the kids in supporting them. We also hope it will be an opportunity to get the word out to help with the community build.”
