On Mother’s Day, May 13, at 2 p.m., Sunday Afternoon Live brings jazz performer Gail Pettis to the stage at the historic Raymond Theatre.
Taking a roundabout journey, Gail Pettis, once an orthodontist, now graces the stage in the Pacific Northwest as a jazz artist. Singing classical music and hymns in her youth, a 1996 jazz workshop launched her into a career of jazz singing and the love of live performances. She performs throughout the United States, having also performed in Europe, Russia and the Far East.
Trained by Greta Matassa she is a two-time winner of the “Northwest Vocalist of the Year” award by the Earshot Jazz Society. Pettis combines her warm contralto with the talents of Darin Clendenin on piano, Clipper Anderson on bass and Brad Boal on drums. Pettis croons love songs as well as fresh arrangements of popular standards. She is also a favorite on local KMKX jazz radio.
Tickets are $15 at the door or can be purchased in advance for $12 at the Raymond Theatre, Raymond Pharmacy and South Bend Pharmacy. Tickets also available on PayPal at www.sundayafternoonlive.org, or by calling 360-836-4419.
The show is sponsored by Michael & Diane O’Meagher, Seaquest Motel, Pioneer Grocery and the Raymond Pharmacy.
