The 26th annual Fall Gala art exhibit opens at Grays Harbor College’s Spellman Library on Friday evening, featuring creative work by 25 local artists.
“This art show was conceived by Ruth Webb as a venue for her art students,” said Valerie Busch, who’s in charge of the GHC library and archives. “Each year she would produce quite a spread of refreshments. We have toned it down at this point to offering finger foods, wine and good company.”
This year’s participating artists are Nathan Barnes, Kristi Beitzel, Ivy M. Bowers, Matthew Coyne, Julie Daniels, Vicki Garrett, Judy Horn, Ken Hunt, Patricia Jollimore, Kimmi Kerns, Susan LaMadrid, Loni Lou LaQuill, Carrie L. Larson, Lora Malakoff, Stuart May, Douglas Orr, Brenda S. Peterson, Karin Phifer, Stephen Phifer, Edgar W. Schroll, Cara Beth Stevenson, Larry J. Walden, Ron Westman, Richard L. Young and Jenifer Youngblood.
Their art forms run the gamut: oil, acrylic, watercolor, pottery, ceramics, resin, wood sculpture, silk scarves, photography in several forms, and mixed media pieces. “There is a little bit of something for everyone,” said Busch.
The family-friendly reception is planned from 6 to 8 p.m. at the library. Admission and refreshments are free.
After the opening, the exhibit will remain open through Dec. 6 during regular library hours: 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Wednesday; 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday; 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday; and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
