There will be 400 first doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine available April 19 for anyone age 18 and older who signs up ahead of time for a clinic at the Hoquiam Elks Lodge Monday.
Harbor Drug in Hoquiam is co-hosting the clinic and is providing the 400 doses, said Dave Smith who runs the pharmacy.
Even though, starting Thursday, vaccinations are open to anyone 16 and older, the two-dose Moderna vaccine is only approved for those 18 and older, explained Smith.
To sign up for the clinic, go to harborcovidvaccine.com/events. Scroll down to the “Covid-19 Moderna Vaccine First Dose Clinic” listing, and click the “register now” link. There are 24 questions on the form, which includes a calendar to schedule a time between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. for the vaccination. Once your appointment is set, the shot will be given at the Elks Lodge at 624 K St.
This is one of the clinics that has been co-sponsored by Harbor Drug, including an earlier one this week in Westport. They, like other pharmacies in the county, are scheduling their own in-house vaccinations as well; call them at 360-532-3061 to schedule an appointment, and keep up with their Facebook page, Facebook.com/Harbor-Drug-Gifts, for other vaccination events.
The state’s vaccine locator site, vaccinelocator.doh.wa.gov, provides a frequently updated listing of clinics and other locations across the county with available appointments. A search Monday morning entering the 98520 zip code showed available appointments at the Aberdeen Rite Aid; Sea Mar clinics in Aberdeen, Ocean Shores and Elma; and East County Health Mart Pharmacies in Elma and McCleary. In Pacific County, appointments were available at the health department and Willapa Harbor Hospital. The site includes links to each location to schedule an appointment.
