A surprise Hoquiam Coin Hunt begins this weekend. The city of Hoquiam is inviting the public out for another gold coin hunt in and around the downtown core.
“The leprechauns are going to be let lose this weekend,” said Councilperson Paul McMillan. The city has seen successful, and responsibly-distanced, incentives like the coin hunts boost local tourism even during the pandemic.
McMillan added at Monday’s council meeting over Zoom, “The coin hunt is starting this weekend, and it is gold coins, which are presidential or Sacajawea dollars which are gold in color. Also there are going to be little green kettles of gold and those will be around town too.”
