The New Years Day Tournament of Roses football classic will be revived in Pasadena next Jan. 1 without the pageantry of the floral parade which formerly preceded the game, James K. Ingham, Tournament of Roses committee president, announced today.
Ingham said difficulty in obtaining labor and materials caused cancellation of the traditional rose parade.
Last Jan. 1, Oregon State and Duke University staged their contest in the Duke stadium in Durham, N.C. when the attack on Pearl Harbor caused military authorities to limit all gatherings on the West Coast.

Ocean Shores Golf and Country Club, the only 18-hole golf course in Southwest Washington, will be closed to use by the general pubic after Nov. 1, officials of the big resort announced today. The closure is part of an overall plan to make the OSGCC into a private, self-supporting organization, with exclusive privileges, similar to other first-class private golf clubs in the United States. One aim of the move is to secure for Ocean Shores club members reciprocal rights to play other PNGA clubs, says Lee Mayes, chairman of the club’s current membership drive.
