Do you hear that? The splashes of fins and the patter of the rain mean one thing, the coho and chum salmon have returned sporting their green and burgundy spawning colors.

On Saturday, Oct. 26, from 10 a.m. to noon at Schafer State Park, join Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife habitat biologist Lauren Bauernschmidt to discuss and view the salmon returning to our coastal rivers (bring your polarized sunglasses to better see the salmon in the Satsop River).

Through a talk and walk to the river’s edge, learn about life cycles, anatomy and the unique traits of our amazing and resilient returning fish species.

They will also be offering Gyotaku — Japanese Fish Printing using “replica fish” and rice paper as an art activity.

Please meet at Picnic Shelter 1 and come dressed for the weather. All ages are welcome. Light refreshments will also be provided.
