Lauren King is the Rotary Club’s AHS Student of the Month

Lauren King is the Rotary Club’s Aberdeen High School Student of the Month for October.

Lauren, daughter of Darrin and Helen King of Cosmopolis, is a World Class Scholar, a scholar-athlete and a Top Athlete. As a Running Start student, she is maintaining a 3.99 GPA at AHS and a 4.0 at Grays Harbor College.

She’s involved in ASB, yearbook, and the varsity cheer and tennis teams. She is this year’s cheer captain and has earned several varsity letters and awards in both sports. She is serving as vice president of ASB and copy editor of the 2020-21 yearbook.

She has been volunteering every year since eighth grade for Aberdeen Food Ball, and has helped organize numerous charity golf tournaments benefiting the Aberdeen Police Officers’ Guild, Aberdeen Police Explorer Post and others.

After high school, Lauren hopes to enter Gonzaga University to study for a bachelor of science in nursing. Her eventual goal is to earn a medical degree and become an obstetrician and gynecologist.

Each year, the Aberdeen Rotary Club honors Aberdeen High School seniors through its Student of the Month recognition and scholarship program. One senior is recognized each month between October and May. In June, two of these eight students are then selected for either the $1,000 “Blue” or $2,000 “Gold” scholarship to the school of their choice.
