Retired Ocean Shores businessman Charlie Utterback has committed to donate up to $100,000 in matching funds to North Beach PAWS in the coming weeks.

Retired Ocean Shores businessman Charlie Utterback has committed to donate up to $100,000 in matching funds to North Beach PAWS in the coming weeks.

The nonprofit animal shelter is seeking cash for needed building repairs, deferred improvements and general expenses during these lean times.

“North Beach PAWS needs this money badly as we have recently had to cancel our weekly Garage Sale due to the coronavirus outbreak. This event generates about $1,000 per week or $4,000 per month,” said Lorna Valdez, president of the North Beach nonprofit.

Utterback and his wife, Ann, have committed to match all donations made by the public through the end of June.

“We are hoping more individuals and businesses will consider donating to this hardworking nonprofit organization in the weeks to come,” said Valdez. “What a wonderful opportunity we now have to keep the shelter financially solvent.”

Donations may be sent by mail to P.O. Box 962, Ocean Shores WA 98569. Funds also are accepted electronically at www.northbeachpaws.org.
