North Beach High School’s spirited paint project

A school-spirited design project was recently completed at North Beach High School. The large rolling door that separates the gym and commons has been painted into a bold and proud North Beach design. One side faces the commons/cafeteria area, while the winged foot faces the gymnasium. The words under the winged foot read “The House of Pain,” a nickname given to the NBHS gymnasium by Bob Sutter, longtime coach and teacher at North Beach. The name was also frequently referred to by former Daily World sports writers Rick Anderson and Ray Ryan. The project was funded by North Beach Booster Club, and the artist was local painter Tim Cheney with help from TLC Professional Painters.
