The Coastal Waters District of Scouts BSA held its annual awards dinner on Saturday, recognizing several district and unit leaders for their volunteer service.
“Spark Plug” awards were announced for three leaders who have made special contributions to their units: Rebecca Ledford, Tiger leader for Pack 4023; Mary Hart, a committee member with Pack 4057; and Sam Barlow, Cubmaster of Pack 4057.
Erin Helman received a national James E. West Fellowship Award for making a large financial contribution to Scouting in the past year.
Bobbi Lindsay received a District Award of Merit in recognition of outstanding service. She has been an active volunteer with Coastal Waters for nine years, serving as District Commissioner since 2014. At the unit level, she has been heavily involved in Cub Pack 28 and Scout Troop 28 in Long Beach.
Other awards will be announced later, after they are formally presented to the recipients.
This was the final awards dinner for the Coastal Waters District, which covers Grays Harbor and Pacific counties. It will merge April 1 with its neighbors, Timberline and Capital Area, to form a single Western Washington Scouting district. Its name has not yet been chosen.
