Home-town atmosphere is at the heart of this Aberdeen grocery store

Local products and great prices come with shopping local

For 117 years, Swanson’s Foods has been serving the communities of Grays Harbor, offering essential products, fresh produce and meats, all offered with outstanding customer service.

“Customers love our service and friendliness,” says Operations Manager Lewis Bumstead. “They really like the home-town atmosphere – as opposed to the feeling of a large corporation.”

Located at 217 North Boone St. in Aberdeen, Swanson’s Foods South Side location offers plenty of easy parking, a restaurant and delicious Chinese food for take-out.

“We’re in a great location,” Bumstead says. “You don’t have to cross the bridge if you’re in Cosmopolis, the North River Communities, South Aberdeen and the South Beaches, which is very convenient.”

More ways to save

Customers don’t only flock to Swanson’s for the home-grown atmosphere – they also come to shop for the quality products at a great price. Top sellers and customer favourites include Gold’n Plump marinated whole rotisserie, fried or baked chicken, and Swanson’s own Fresh You-Grind, Organic and Regular Gourmet Coffee.

Their meat department boasts a wide variety of products and cuts to suit your needs, including Chaiman’s Reserve Pork and Painted Hills All-Natural Choice Beef sourced from Oregon.

Swanson’s Foods offers locally sourced products including a selection of offerings from Wynoochie River Wines.

“We also purchase produce from local Washington grower Martin Family Orchards,” Bumstead says. “And we have Wynoochee River Wines available at both locations – we’re becoming a destination for them!”

For those looking to stretch their grocery dollars further, they also offer Appcard, a consumer-friendly member discount program. It features coupons and the ability to earn points for free products with every dollar purchased. Coupons can be clipped digitally for your phone at the check stand while shopping –just ask the friendly clerk for assistance.

Service with a smile

The Swanson’s team strives to make the shopping experience a pleasurable one, with friendly service and big smiles.

“If you have questions about products or need assistance locating the things you need, we’re more than happy to help. Be sure to say ‘Hi’ to any of our crew, including some of our long-term employees like meat manager Aaron Waltee and produce manager Albert Legget, who’ve both been there over 18 years!” says Bumstead, who himself started out as a clerk.

Committed to supporting their Grays Harbor communities, you’ll often find Swanson’s Foods supporting local schools and athletics.

“We’re very grateful to also receive the same amount of support and trust from those who’ve continued to shop at Swanson’s over the years,” Bumstead says.
