If you want to know what makes Wiitamaki Jewelry Store special, owner Mike Giron isn’t the person to ask. He’s just not a promotional guy. But if you check out the store’s online reviews you’ll hear all about Giron’s helpful demeanor and extensive knowledge.
Hal stopped by Wiitamaki Jewelry Store with a watch question the manufacturer couldn’t answer and came away a loyal customer:
”After a short inspection and look at the problem we agreed it must be an adhesive situation and they suggested a repair glue. Not only did they show me said glue, they let me use it to repair it myself in minutes (I enjoy fixing things 🙂 Not only will I recommend these folks, I have a new glue to add to my fix-it list!”
Wiitamaki Jewelry Store has been an Aberdeen mainstay since 1926, when Giron’s grandparents opened up shop. Giron says he grew up kicking around the store, and now with his son Taylor helping with repairs, daughter Alexa behind the counter most days and granddaughter Heidi helping out during the Christmas rush, the store is in its fifth generation of family-friendly customer service.
“We try to treat everybody right,” Giron says. “Treat people the way they want to be treated.”
Service and selection that are worth the drive
Over 94 years in Aberdeen Wiitamaki has seen generations of customers too — some who stay loyal even after moving away.
“I only shop with them,” notes regular customer Wendy. “I now live in Everett and still go home to shop.”
Giron says the store is a fun place to browse, with gifts to suit a range of budgets from scarves and handbags to clocks, watches and sparkling jewels. Like any jewelry store, they also welcome customers shopping for once-in-a-lifetime occasions.
“We’ve always had those who come in feeling very sentimental, and we’re happy to help them choose those special pieces,” he says.
Giron has a wealth of knowledge about jewelry, stones and settings, and he’ll guide shoppers who need a bit of guidance picking out engagement rings and other special gifts. “Lafonn is a very sparkly line, very pretty, and exclusive to us.”
He’s also caring with precious heirlooms that need cleaning or repair, as customer Anna shares:
“My husband had finally been able to get me a wedding ring before he passed. I didn’t know until he was gone. It needed to be sized. I had heard wonderful things about Wiitamaki. They were even better, (taking) care of it in a short amount of time, and it wasn’t expensive … They dealt with me in a caring but professional way.”
