The Aberdeen and Hoquiam libraries will open their doors to the public starting Tuesday, June 1.
“The Aberdeen Library will begin with a social distancing occupancy limit of 50 people and expand from there, while assessing, adapting, and refining customer service processes” starting June 1, said Library Manager Stephanie Reece. “There is no time limit for visiting the library and some seating is available. Full browsing, computer use for 60 minutes a day, and the public restrooms are available.”
The library will be open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday. Library take-out curbside service will remain an option for those who aren’t ready to go inside the building. The parking lot will be open, as will the drive-up book drop. Masks are required for anyone age 2 and older.
The meeting rooms at both the Aberdeen and Hoquiam libraries remain closed for the time being.
Hoquiam Library Manager Mary Thornton told the Hoquiam City Council this week that the library will open June 1 with a limit of 65 people allowed in the building at a time. Because of distancing requirements, only four of the eight computer stations at the newly-remodeled building will be available for use.
Thornton said the library will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; data from 2019 showed more visitors used the building in the morning than in the evening, which prompted the library to adjust its hours. Masks will be required. More information on these and other area Timberland Regional Libraries can be found online at trl.org and on Facebook.
