Robert Wilson Jr., 50, of Aberdeen being held on $50,000 bond

The man arrested Monday for shooting a dog with a bow and arrow was charged in Grays Harbor County Superior Court Tuesday with animal cruelty in the first degree, according to Grays Harbor County Prosecutor Katie Svoboda.

Robert Ernest Wilson Jr., 50, of Aberdeen was seen on video surveillance shooting a dog with his bow at the Grays Harbor Bowman’s Club in South Aberdeen Sunday. He is currently in jail on $50,000 bondable bail, and is also on a U.S. Marshals hold for a probation or parole violation.

Grays Harbor County deputies were called to the 800 block of State Route 105 in rural Aberdeen at 3 p.m. Sunday after a resident there called to say his dog had returned home with an arrow protruding from its torso. Members of the archery club identified Wilson on video surveillance shooting the dog. He was arrested the next day. The dog is recuperating and expected to recover.
