Aberdeen Mansion under review for national historic places listing

The Edward and Laura Hulbert House, also known as the Aberdeen Mansion, has been listed on the Washington Heritage Register, and will now be reviewed by the National Park Service for consideration for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. The house is located at 807 North M St. in Aberdeen and has “an excellent chance of being listed” for the National Register, according to to State Historic Preservation Officer Allyson Brooks. She said it will now take 60 to 90 days before the National Park Service decides on the house.

Being listed under these registers also brings some Benefits, Brooks wrote in a letter to The Daily World. These can include federal tax credit programs to rehabilitate the building, should it need repair, and assures a “protective review of a property should a federal or state action have a potential adverse effect to the property’s historic values,” Brooks wrote. She goes on to add that the listing of a property “does not impose federal or state restrictive covenants or easements, nor will it result in a taking.”
