The City of Aberdeen’s annual Transportation Benefit District project plan calls for all of its available funds — $990,000 — to be spent this year along with $860,531 in grants for a total of $1,850,531 for road and sidewalk improvements.
Besides grants, the money for the plan comes from a sales tax of 18 cents for every $100 of taxable goods sold in Aberdeen. Voters approved a 10-year extension of the tax last February as well as an increase from 13 to 18 cents last February.
The plan calls for $426,000 for asphalt overlays, $385,412 for sidewalks, $84,000 for concrete panels, $30,000 for alleys, $15,000 each for asphalt patching and crack sealing and $34,589 for contingency.
Roads scheduled for asphalt overlays include Wishkah from Division to Park, Heron from Garfield to Park, Garfield from Wishkah to Heron, Thomas from Laura to the river and A Street from First to Second.
There will be an opportunity for public comment at the next City Council meeting at 7:15 p.m. on Feb. 12.
