Aberdeen sales tax revenue is up compared to 2017
Sales tax revenue numbers are up in Aberdeen this year. According to the Finance Director Mike Folkers, sales tax revenue for the month is up 7.2 percent compared to March 2017’s revenue. Along with that is a 2.9 percent increase in sales tax revenue over the past year compared to the revenue going back a year from March 2017.
When asked what was the cause for this increased revenue, Folkers said he wasn’t sure, but thinks it could be due to tax refund checks, or a new tax bill.
“It was up across all the sectors, so we’re hoping it was perhaps the tax refund checks, or the new tax bill people started to see on their pay checks and had a little extra money,” said Folkers. “But we’re thinking economic activity is just generally picking up.”
