The Aberdeen Education Association is endorsing a slate of three candidates for the Aberdeen School Board.
The union and its bargaining unit of about 240 teachers and staff members, was involved in bitter labor negotiations with the School District last summer and fall. It agreed to a contract calling for an 18 percent raise, plus 3 percent raises the second and third years.
The union said its interview team met with 4 of the 6 school board candidates and has chosen to endorse Jeremy Wright for Position 1, Suzy Ritter for Position 2, and Jessica Jurasin for Position 3. Three board positions are on the ballot. The only incumbent running is Jennifer Durney for re-election in Position 1.
The other two positions are open, meaning the incumbent didn’t run again. In those, Ritter is opposed by T.J. Wright for Position 2 and Jurasin by William “Doc” Carter for Position 3.
