At 5:52 p.m. Tuesday Grays Harbor PUD posted an outage alert on their website indicating that power was out affecting 2,000 customers in the North Beach area including Moclips, Copalis, Ocean City, Pacific Beach and Taholah.
At 8:18 p.m., Grays Harbor PUD posted an update that said power had been restored temporarily and knocked out again, this time also affecting Seabrook. Shortly before 9 p.m., Grays Harbor PUD posted another update that alleged vandals had been cutting trees down in the area which caused the second outage.
The Daily World received an email from Grays Harbor PUD Communications & Government Relations Director Ian Cope at 6:07 a.m. Wednesday. Power was restored at approximately 5:35 a.m.
“Crews have replaced (a) damaged transmission pole, rehung downed wire, and restored power to all customers on the North Beach,” Cope wrote. “The outage was caused by vandals cutting down trees near Moclips, one of which fell into a pole, knocking out power to 2,300 customers.”
