APD makes two arrests for suspects fleeing on bikes

On Wednesday, Jan. 15, the Aberdeen Police Department dispatched officers to two separate crimes that quickly turned into foot pursuits.

The first was a shoplift in progress at Safeway where the suspect was stopped by employees and displayed a knife to get away. The suspect fled on a bicycle and after a brief foot pursuit was captured within minutes by multiple Aberdeen Police Department officers. The stolen property and knife were recovered. The suspect was charged with obstructing a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, third-degree theft and unlawful display of a dangerous weapon
