A 23-year-old Hoquiam man was arrested just after midnight on Tuesday in connection with an incident earlier in the day when a 71-year-old Aberdeen woman was hit by a vehicle and later died at Grays Harbor Community Hospital.
Police said the vehicle that hit her left the scene near St. Andrews Church on First Street in Aberdeen.
The woman, identified as Jeri Rae Stiles by Grays Harbor County Coroner Robert Kegel, was hit just after 7:30 a.m. by a pickup truck at the intersection of East First Street and North G Street, according to Aberdeen Police.
The suspect’s vehicle was seized and brought to the Aberdeen Police station for a search warrant, according to Lt. C.J. Chastain.
Police thanked the public for reaching out with helpful information. Anyone who may have witnessed the events leading up to the collision, the victim being struck, or the suspect vehicle leaving the scene can contact Detective Jeff Weiss (360-538-4452).
