Primary races are upcoming for both Grays Harbor county commission seats on the ballot this fall as candidate filing wrapped up around the state Friday.
Kevin Pine of Aberdeen filed Friday as a Republican to make it a three-way race for the Commission Position 2 seat. Others in the race are incumbent Randy Ross and John Shaw, both of Aberdeen. Neither stated a party preference.
The race for the East County seat being vacated by Wes Cormier has drawn five candidates. Cormier is running for the state Senate.
The commission candidates include Jack Dwyer and Jamie Nichols of Montesano and two from Elma, Jill Warne and Jim Sorensen, who is the town’s mayor. Warne is a Republican, Nichols is a Democrat, Dwyer filed as an Independent and Sorensen and Chris Miller, who lives in McCleary stated no party preference.
All Washington races that draw more than two candidates go on the August primary ballot and the top two advance to the General Election.
Democratic Congressman Derek Kilmer has four challengers, three Republicans and a Democrat.
